About

Why Tedd exists

It started with a spreadsheet, and with questions the numbers could not answer.

Tedd started with the frustration of managing household finances in spreadsheets. Keeping them updated took time, and the numbers still left important questions unanswered: Where do I stand today? Where am I spending the most? What should my budget be? How could I plan to pay down my loans?

The idea was to bring those records together, spending, budgets, assets, debts and money lent to family or friends, and make them easier to understand. It would be a personal CFO experience that answers questions using my own numbers and helps me compare options before making decisions.

That is why Tedd was built — for anyone managing real household finances, not just people who already know how to read a balance sheet. It is still an early pilot, open to everyone, and feedback from early users will help shape what comes next.

The name

Tedd: short for Track Every Dollar Daily.

I named it for the actual job the app does, stated plainly instead of dressed up. I also wanted it to sound less like software and more like someone you'd actually ask about money: direct, not intimidating. Managing money is serious — getting it wrong has real consequences. But most tools built for it treat that seriousness as a reason to be cold: walls of numbers, no context, nothing that tells you what any of it means for you. Tedd is built on the opposite bet: the more clearly you understand your own numbers, day by day, the better the decisions you make with them.

Tedd helps you understand your numbers and plan. It does not guarantee that you will pay off debt or reach any goal, and it does not replace professional advice.
