The pilot

Who is Tedd for?

Households in the United States with several financial commitments, such as a budget alongside loans, property, investments and money lent to family or friends. Many use spreadsheets or several separate tools today.

How do invitations work?

We are opening Tedd gradually to a small pilot group, and feedback from that group will shape the product. Requesting an invitation tells us you are interested. It does not guarantee access, create an account or subscription, or ask for financial information. We reply by email, but cannot promise a date. If we invite you, you receive an email with a single-use link that expires after 7 days.

What can I do first?

A useful first session: sign in with your invitation link, add what you have (connect a supported US institution through Plaid, import a statement file and review what was detected, or enter accounts, property and debts by hand), then look at your budget and net worth, and ask Tedd AI a question about your own numbers. You choose how much to add, and you can start with one account.

What will pilot members be asked to do?

Pilot members are invited to tell us what works and what does not, through the Contact page (choose Feedback). That feedback shapes what we build next.

Can my spouse or partner use it too?

Each Tedd account is individual, with its own sign-in and its own records. There is no shared household workspace yet and no way to give another person access to your records, so a second person with an account sees only their own. Invitations go to one email address each. One person can record the whole household’s accounts in their own account.

What does it cost?

Tedd is free to use during the open pilot, and creating an account does not start a subscription. If paid plans are introduced later, you will see the price and what is included before you are asked to pay.

Can I cancel?

There are no paid subscriptions yet, so there is nothing to cancel. If paid plans are introduced, the price and how to cancel will be shown to you before you pay.

Your data and the AI

Can I delete my account?

Yes. You can delete your account yourself in Settings (it asks for your password), or send a privacy request through the Contact page using the email address on your account. Deleting removes your records from our live systems; we make no promise about when copies in backups are overwritten. You can also disconnect a connected institution at any time. Deleting your account is separate from cancelling a subscription.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Settings has a "Download my data" button that exports the records stored for you. Passwords and connection keys are left out.

What do you store about me?

Your account details (name, email, country, a securely hashed password), the money records you add or connect (accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, assets, debts and money lent), your chat messages (deleted after 90 days) and memory notes, and sign-in and AI-request logs (kept up to 90 days). We do not store your bank username or password, full account or card numbers (only the last four digits), or the original files you import. The Safety page has the full list, and deleting your account removes it all.

Does it matter whether I import files or connect a bank?

Either way your transactions are stored so Tedd can show them to you. Importing means we never get your bank login and we do not keep the original file, and if the statement shows an account number we keep only its last four digits. The file name and first rows of a new statement layout are sent to our AI provider to work out its columns. Connecting through Plaid means we never see your bank password and keep only the last four digits of account numbers. The Safety page compares the two.

Can the Tedd team see my transactions?

The app has no screen for staff to browse your records, and there is no way to view the app as you. Your records are stored in a database that the engineers who run the service can reach. They look only to fix a problem you report, protect the service, or meet a legal duty. We cannot promise it is technically impossible for the team to read the data.

Where is my data stored, and what does the AI see?

Tedd is hosted in the cloud, on Railway. Bank data is retrieved through Plaid with your consent. Our AI provider receives three things: a chat question with the records relevant to it, the file name and first rows of a statement in a layout we have not seen before (to work out its columns), and a monthly summary of your net worth changes (for one-line chart labels). Chat sends nothing until you ask a question. Property addresses go to a US property-data service (RentCast) when you ask for an estimate on a US property; the property-valuation feature sends addresses to RentCast rather than to the AI provider. An address you include in a chat question, a chat document or a statement can still be processed by the AI provider. The Safety page and our Privacy Policy describe this in full.

Does Tedd AI remember our conversations?

It keeps your recent conversation so follow-up questions make sense, and short notes about you that you can clear. Chat messages are deleted automatically after 90 days.

How reliable are the AI answers?

The AI can make mistakes and can only work from what you have recorded, so check important figures against your own records. Tedd is software for organizing and understanding your finances. It is not a licensed financial advisor or CPA, and it does not replace professional advice.

Banks and tracking

Do I have to connect an institution?

No. You can import supported statement files (CSV, Excel, PDF, OFX or QFX) and review what was detected before anything is added, or enter information by hand. If you do connect, you can connect supported US institutions (bank accounts, credit cards, loans and mortgages) through Plaid.

Which institutions and countries are covered?

Connections go through Plaid and work with supported US institutions, for bank accounts, credit cards, loans and mortgages. Not every institution or account supports every feature. Overseas accounts and assets are entered or imported by you, with their currency recorded alongside.

How does Tedd track money lent to family or friends?

Money lent to family or friends, sometimes called peer loans. Tedd keeps one running balance per person and currency: what you lent, what has been repaid, and what is still outstanding.
